Sorah YangSunday, July 8, 2012Sorah Yang was introduced to the hip-hop community in high school when she met Michael “Mappy” Mappala and joined his junior team reDEFINE. She moved down to LA a year later to go to college at USC, where she danced on and off until auditioning for GRV. She has been dancing with them since, and even had the privilege of being center for Jawn Ha’s piece at their first place performance at World of Dance LA 2012. She has also gone abroad to Korea, where she spread her passion through teaching dance at Korea University. While there she worked closely with Doobu, a dance trainer/choreographer for JYP talent agency. Aside from teaching various workshops all around the Bay Area and Southern California, she was featured in comedian Margaret Cho’s music video from her Grammy-award winning comedy album. Sorah loves sharing her passion and enthusiasm for dance with others and aspires to spread fun, happiness, and growth through her classes.
Clarence BitunSunday, July 15, 2012In High School, Clarence Bitun began his dancing career breakdancing and free-styling with a group of friends. He then furthered his training in choreography when he joined the Irvine-based junior team, Underground right when it was established in 2007. That same year when he turned 18, Clarence auditioned for Common Ground dance team, a collegiate team that was led by his older brother, Chris Bitun and Tuan Duong, two people who still remain his biggest mentors and inspirations. Three years later in 2010, Clarence proceeded to follow his brother’s footsteps and was given the position of Co-Artistic of CG. Clarence directed CG for one year before he was invited to audition for Super Galactic Beat Manipulators in 2011. Although it was difficult for him to leave a familiar environment and a family he’s been training and dancing with for 4 years, one of his main goals as a dancer was to constantly improve himself and push his boundaries. Today, Clarence is the Artistic Director of where he started, Underground, and is still striving to better himself in multiple styles. His main focus is to keep training, and eventually use his knowledge to hopefully inspire others.
